Malcolm MacKenzie was born at Rose Valley, Prince Edward Island, on June 23, 1907. He received his early education in the district school and then entered Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, where he qualified for a teachers license of the First Class and graduated with an Honor Diploma. After teaching school for several years he proceeded to Dalhousie University where he entered upon an Honors Course on Arts preparatory to the study of Law. Illness and the economic conditions of the time forced him to return to teaching in 1932 and to complete the work for his B. A. degree at summer school of Mount Allison University. While teaching school he continued to study in the field of educational administration and in 1935 he was appointed an Inspector of Schools. In 1942 he interrupted a postgraduate course in education at the University of Toronto to enlist in the Army. He served as a Personnel Selection Officer in various parts of Canada, the United Kingdom and Northwestern Europe. On discharge from military service in January, 1947, he was appointed Chief Supervisor of Schools for the province. He then returned to the University of Toronto and completed the requirements for the B. Paed. degree. At the present time he is employed as Assistant Director of Education and Inspector of Flight Schools.

On November 29, 1934, M. W. Brother MacKenzie was united in marriage with Miss Lila Carrie Wotton of Victoria, Prince Edward Island. They have one daughter, Janet Marina.

M. W. Brother MacKenzie has shown an active interest in both church and community life. He is a member of Zion Presbyterian Church, Charlottetown, and is presently serving on the Board of Trustees as secretary. He also leads a class in Bible study for young people. Chief among his community interest is service since 1947 on the executive of the Prince Edward Island Music Festival Association. He is also Past President of the Prince Edward Island Civil Servants Association. In his busy life he has also retained affiliation with the Reserve Army in the capacity of Personnel Selection Officer with the local Armoured Brigade.

M. W. Brother MacKenzies Masonic career dates from October 8, 1929 when he was initiated as an Entered Apprentice in True Brothers Lodge No. 8, Crapaud, He was passed to the degree of Fellow Craft on December 10, 1929 and raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on February 11, 1930. After serving in several subordinate offices he became Worshipful Master in 1941.

In the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, M. W. Brother MacKenzie now holds the office of Senior Grand Warden of Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection, Valley of Summerside, Prince Edward Island. He is also a member of Alexandra Chapter No. 11

Royal Arch Masons, and of Prince Edward Preceptory No. 35, Knights Templar, Charlottetown. Because of this background he is a valuable member of the Royal Arch Masons School Trustee Committee which equips the Prince Edward Island Protestant Orphanage School.

The first Grand Lodge office held by M. W. Brother MacKenzie was in 1950 when he was appointed Senior Grand Steward. In 1951 he was elected Junior Grand Warden and has since regularly progressed to serve now as Grand Master. In 1951 he was appointed Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of North Dakota.
