Ronald MacMillan was born at West River, P. E. Island, on Feb. 7th, 1844, of Scottish parentage.
Early in life he accompanied, his father on the ‘briny deep,” and acquired a love for the sea, enhancing the tendencies he had inherited.
After a successful career as master mariner he settled into commercial enterprises ashore, with Charlottetown as the centre of operations. Naturally such would run along the line of vessel ownership and commerce. In this, however, his captains were not as fortunate as he had been.
Some ten years ago he closed out business and removed to the Pacific Coast, where the Angel of Death found him on Oct. 23rd, 1915.
A man of conscientious scruples. and sterling integrity; a Presbyterian; warm in his friendships, and generous to the poor.
He was made a Master Mason in Victoria Lodge No. 2 on April 23rd 1867, and presided as Worshipful Master in 1896.
He was exalted to the Royal Arch in Alexandra Chapter No. 11 Jan. 9th 1896, and presided as High Priest in 4900.
In the Grand Lodge he was Junior Grand -Warden in 1897, Senior Grand Warden in 1898, Deputy Grand Master in 1898 and Grand Master in 1900.
