William Charles Lawson was born at Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on June 5th, 188, and is a son of John A. Lawson, the Senior Past Master of Victoria Lodge No. 2, located at Charlottetown.
He was educated at Prince of Wales College, and after engaging in the teaching profession entered the service of the Merchants Bank of P, E. Island, which institution was later absorbed by the Canadian Bank of Commerce, and is at present manager of the Alberton Branch.
In the home town of his adoption he has always evinced keen interest in community affairs, being its first elected Mayor; has been a member of its School Board for the past five years, and is a Past President of the Alberton and West Prince Board of Trade.
He was initiated, passed and raised in Masonry in Zetland Lodge No. 7, at Alberton, P, E. Island, in 19o7, and after serving in subordinate offices was elected Worshipful Master in 1910, and again in 1917.
In the Grand Lodge he was appointed Grand Lecturer in 1921; elected junior Grand Warden in 1922, Deputy Grand Master in 1923, and Most Worshipful Grand Master in 1924.
Is Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand near this Grand Lodge.
Exalted to the degree of Royal Arch in Prince Edward Chapter, No. 12, G. R. N. S., at Kensington, P. E. Island in 1923.
