The Most Worshipful the Grand Master, Douglas D. MacLaren, was born in New Perth, Prince Edward Island, on April 1, 1903, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stewart MacLaren.

M.W. Bro. MacLaren received the usual public school education. He is an esteemed citizen of Montague, from which town he serves Prince Edward Island, as Branch Manager of the Bergmann Construction Company, with plant and head office at West Hill, near Toronto, Ontario.

M.W. Bro. MacLaren was united in marriage with Miss Erma Wood of Strathcona, Prince Edward Island, and has three sons; Donald, Edward and Stewart. MW Bro MacLaren also has two daughters, Doris and Anna from a previous marriage He is a deacon in the Church of Christ, Montague, and a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows.

His advance in Masonry has been rapid, from Craft Lodge in 1943 to Grand Master in 1953. He was raised in February, 1943, in St. Andrews Lodge, No. 13, Montague, and became the Master of his Mother Lodge in 1946, which office he held for three terms. He was exalted in Alexander Chapter, No. 11, R.A.M., Charlottetown, and is a member of Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection, A. & A. S. R., Valley of Summerside.

In 1952 he was appointed as Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Idaho.
