James Archibald Thomson was born at North Tryon, Prince Edward Island, on July 10th, 1904, the son of the late David John and Jennie S. Thomson.

Most Worshipful Brother Thomson received his early education at North Tryon School and Tryon Consolidated School. He attended the Prince Edward Island Agricultural and Technical School for the term 192122, where he led his class and was valedictorian. He later took extramural work in English and mathematics from Mount Allison University.

On June 2lst, 1935, our Grand Master was united in marriage with Miss Ethel Marguerite Leard of North Tryon, and they have one daughter, Winnifred Esther.

Most Worshipful Brother Thomson is a successful farmer, residing on the old homestead which has been in possession of the family since 1828.

A loyal member and enthusiastic worker in the United Church of Canada at North Tryon, Brother Thomson has served as an Elder for the past five years and also is a member of the Board of Trustees.

In Masonry he received the Entered Apprentice Degree in True Brothers Lodge No. 8

on July 8, 1941, passed to the degree of Fellow Craft August 12, 1941, and was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on September 9, 1941. He was elected and installed Worshipful Master of True Brothers Lodge in 1946. He is a member of Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection

in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Summerside.

Iii the Grand Lodge of Prince Edward Island he received the appointment of Junior Grand Deacon in 1946. From this position he advanced each year until finally he was elected to the Grand East in 1951.

Most Worshipful Brother Thomson represents the Grand Lodge of Minnesota A.F. & A.M. near the Grand Lodge of Prince Edward Island.
