John Earl Stanley Maynard of Northam, P. E. I. was born on June 23rd, 1900, and on June 22nd was proclaimed the 68th Grand Master of Masons in Prince Edward Island during the closing session of the 85th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of P.E.I.

Born at Birch Hill, Prince County, P.E.L, he worked on his farm until 1947 when he joined the staff of the Seed Potato Certification Service as an Inspector.

In 1928 our Grand Master married Lois MacArthur of Northam, P.E.I. Of this union two daughters and one son were born.

He has long been active in the spiritual, cultural and civic affairs of his community. He is a very active member of St. James Anglican Church.

Alexandra Lodge No. 5, Port Hill raised him to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on June 5th, 1947. He served his Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1955. He is the Grand Representative for the Grand Lodge of New York near this Grand Lodge.

M.W. Brother Maynard is a 14 degree Scottish Rite Freemason, a Past High Priest of King Solomon Chapter No. 28, R.N.S., OLeary and at present is the Grand District Superintendent of District No. 5 Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia. He is also a Knights Templar in Prince Edward Preceptory in Charlottetown.
