John Francis Martin was born of Scottish parentage at Harrington, Brackley Point Road, on November 12th, 1857. His primary education was received in the Grammar School of his native district and in Prince of Wales College, He acquired his professional training in Trinity Medical School, Toronto. For over forty years he has been engaged in the practice of medicine in the Belfast District, residing at Eldon. In 1911 he was initiated, passed, and raised in Masonry in St. Andrews Lodge, No. 13, receiving the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on July 3rd, A. D., 1911. Becoming a charter member of Mizpah Lodge No. 17, on its formation in 1912, he served in different offices until he was elected Worshipful Master in 1915 and again in 1916. In the Grand Lodge he was appointed Junior Grand Steward in 1915, Senior Grand Deacon in 1916; elected Senior Grand Warden in 1923; Deputy Grand Master in 1924, and Most Worshipful Grand Master in 1925.

He is Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Florida near this Grand Lodge.
