DRIVERS FOR PATIENTS REQUIRING CANCER TREATMENT

In 1994 when the late MW Bro Malcolm Patterson, PGM, of Saint Andrew’s Lodge No. 13 in Montague ,  returned from the “All Canada Conference” , he brought up  the idea of driving cancer patients to Charlottetown for treatment who had no way of getting there. Ironically, Bro Eric Weatherbie had done such a thing a few weeks before and this became the practice of Saint Andrew’s Lodge  No. 13 in Montague of driving patients for treatments. It is continuing until this day. Also Mount Moriah Lodge No. 15 in Bedeque  started their program and just recently St. John Lodge No. 1 in Charlottetown took on a similar program. At present, Ontario, Manitoba and New Brunswick are looking at setting up a similar program and have been very impressed by the Program in place on PEI.

This program is available to anyone who requires Transportation to the Cancer Treatment Center in Charlottetown and there is no cost involved. All drivers involved are mainly Masons and all carry the insurance required to do so. THIS SERVICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR CANCER PATIENTS
