Most Worshipful Brother
John MacNevin, PGM
Grand Lodge of
Prince Edward Island, A.F. & A.M.;
Grand Master 1921 – 1922

Brother John McNevin was born at Bonshaw, Queens County Prince Edward Island, on October the tenth, A.D. 1860, and received a common school education. At an early age he entered the mercantile profession as salesman. After the lapse of some years he started a wholesale business on his own account.

In 1912, the first year of the ballot system, he was elected to serve Ward 5 as Councillor in the Civic Government and continued to represent that Ward until the year 1918, when the press of his business engagements compelled him to retire from Civic affairs.

He was initiated into Masonry in Victoria Lodge No. 2, on January 20, A.D. 1908. A few weeks later he was passed to the degree of Fellow Craft, and on May 11, of the same year, he was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. After serving in several subordinate offices, in the year 1914 he was elected Worshipful Master of Victoria Lodge; after which he became an active member of Grand Lodge.

In 1919 he was elected Senior Grand Warden: in 1920 he was promoted to Deputy Grand Master; and on June 22, A.D. 1921, he was elected Grand Master.
