C. Gordon Lord was born at Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, April 19, 1910, the son of the late Charles H. Lord. He received his early education in North Tryon and the U. S. A. He is a graduate in Engineering, S.A.E. He studied Accounting and Business Management in Windsor, Ontario. He was employed with the Chrysler Corporation, Windsor and Detroit. In 1950 he returned to his native province and accepted a position with the Department of Highways.
He is a member of Trinity United Church, Charlottetown, and some years ago he became active in Young Peoples Work, he is also an Executive of the Men of Trinity.
During the war he served with the Second Medium Battery Artillery.
He is a member of the Knights of Pythias and served as Chancellor Commander of Empire Lodge No. 19, Charlottetown for four terms. He is a member of both the Gyro and Lion Clubs. He has many hobbies but the one dearest to his heart is flying – he has a Pilots License and owns his own plane.
Perhaps the greatest achievement in his life was winning the hand of Marion MacKinnon who in June 1942 became his wife, and who is at the present time Worthy Matron of Crystal Chapter, 0. E. S. To this union have been added two lovely daughters, Donna Mary and Helen Darline.
M.W. Bro, Lord was raised in Victoria Lodge No. 2, Charlottetown, September 11, 1943 and in 1949 was elected Worshipful Master. He received his first Grand Lodge appointment in 1950, was Grand Treasurer, 1951 and appointed Chairman of the Foreign Correspondence Committee the same year. He is the Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of the State of Israel. In June 1957 he was elected to the office of Grand Master.
His other Masonic connections are no less spectacular. He is a Past High Priest of Alexandra Chapter, No. 11, R.A.M., as well as Past Grand Captain of the Host of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia. A Charter Member of King Solomon Chapter, No. 28, O’Leary, P. E. I. He is the Illustrious Master of Garden of the Gulf Council, R. & S.M., Charlottetown, Marshall of Prince Edward Preceptory, No. 35, K.T., Grand Expert of Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection, A. & A.S.R., Charter Member and Vice President of the Freemasons Temple Co. Ltd., Charlottetown.
The various offices he holds is an indication of his love for Freemasonry. He is untiring in his efforts to promote the welfare of the Craft. He is known far and wide for his consideration and kindness to all who meet him, a true Mason and Christian Gentleman.
