Emory H. McFarlane was born at Markhamville, Kings County, New Brunswick, March 29th, 1894.
In January 1916 he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served until he was demobilized in May, 1919.
In the year 1930 he was initiated, passed, and raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason in Mount Zion Lodge No. 12, at Kensington, Prince Edward Island.
Most Worshipful Brother McFarlane served as Master of Mount Zion Lodge No. 12 during the years 1936 and 1937, and in 1939 was elected Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Prince Edward Island. His progress in the Grand Lodge was rapid and uninterrupted. In 1940 he became Senior Grand Warden; in 1941 Deputy Grand Master; and in June 1942 he was elected to the Grand East.
He is the Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Western Australia near this Grand Lodge, having been appointed in 1938.
His progress in Capitular Masonry was also very rapid. He received all the degrees in Prince Edward Chapter No. 12 at Kensington in the year 1937 and was elected High Priest of the Chapter and received the Order of High Priesthood in 1939.
During the same period he became associated with Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection and attained the degree of Grand Elect Perfect and Sublime Mason on October 25th, 1938
