Henry Todd Begg was born in St. Stephen, N. B., in 1878, a son of Rev. W. P. Begg, D.D., a Scotch Presbyterian Minister. Following graduation from the Kings County Academy, Kentville, N. S.,. in 1894, he entered the employ of the Bank of Nova Scotia in whose service he has gained an extensive banking experience. After serving as Manager of various Branches in the Maritime Provinces, he came to Summerside in 1921, in the same capacity.
Since coming to Summerside he has taken an active interest in affairs pertaining to the welfare of the Town, and has been for the past two years President of the Board of Trade.
His Masonic connection began in 1905 when he was initiated, passed and raised in Weisford Lodge, No. 26, Windsor, N. S. In 1908, he served as Worshipful Master of Keith Lodge, No. 23, Stellarton, N. S. In Summerside, he affiliated with Mount Lebanon Lodge, No. 6, and is now active in the amalgamated Hiram and Lebanon Lodge, No. 3.
He is Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts near the Grand Lodge of Prince Edward Island, and in Capitular Masonry a member of Prince Edward Chapter, No. 12, Kensington.
In Grand Lodge he was elected Junior Grand Warden in 1928, Senior Grand Warden in 1929, and Grand Master in 1930.
MW Brother Begg died on May 12, 1931 – less than a month before completing his term.
