John MacLean Nicholson, the subject of this sketch, was born in Charlottetown on November 26th, 1873. Educated at the Public Schools of the City, and at St. Peters Boys School, he early entered the Railway service as a Telegrapher, serving at several stations in different parts of the Province, until now he occupies the position of Agent at Summerside for the Canadian National Railways.
His Masonic career dates from January 20th, 1896, when he was initiated as an Entered Apprentice in Victoria Lodge No. 2, Charlottetown, being raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on April 27th of the same year. In 1920, he was Worshipful Master of St. Georges Lodge, No. 4, Georgetown, and Grand Pursuivant; he was elected as Deputy Grand Master in 1922, and Grand Master in 1926.
He is a member of Prince Edward Chapter, No. 12, Royal Arch Masons, Kensington, and of Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection, A. A. S. R., Summerside.
