Bro. Edward W. MacKay was initiated, passed and raised in Masonry in Prince Edward Lodge No. 14, at Stanley Bridge, receiving the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on St. Johns night, December 27th, 1902.
After serving in subordinate offices, he was elected Worshipful Master in 1907.
Appointed Senior Grand Deacon in 1915, (in this year Bro. MacKay enlisted for Military services, going overseas in 1916 and returning in 1919.)
Again appointed Senior Grand Deacon in 1920. Elected Junior Grand Warden in 1921, Senior Grand Warden in 1922 and Most Worshipful Grand Master in 1923.
Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Ireland.
Exalted in Prince Edward Chapter No. 12, G. R. N. S., at Kensington, March 13th, 1907. Affiliated with Alexandra Chapter, No. 11, at Charlottetown in 1919. Elected M. E., High Priest 1923.
Received Knights Templar Orders in Prince Edward Preceptory No. 35, in 1914. Made a Perfect Elu Mason in Albert Edward Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite in 1910. Elected T, P, Grand Master in April 1916 and again in 1921. Made Sovereign Prince of the Rose Croix H. R. D. M., 180 in Charlottetown Chapter in 1915. Elected Most Wise Sovereign in 1921.
Crossed the sands with the Nobles of Philae Temple, Mystic Shrine, Halifax, N. S., in April, 1914.
