Laughlin Mabon MacKinnon was born in Montague PEI on September 4th 1884.
He was educated on PEI and became a very successful Casket Maker.
He was Raised in St. Andrews Lodge # 13 on May 3rd, 1906. He became Worshipful Master in 1911. In 1918 he was elected as the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of PEI., after holding the offices of Grand Lecturer and Deputy Grand Master.
He was exalted in Alexandra Chapter # 11 in Charlottetown PEI on June 1st, 1920 – demitted and became a Charter Member of Mount Akron Chapter # 20, which was constituted on August 18th, 1920. He was High Priest of Mount Akron # 20 in 1921 and received the Order of High Priesthood in 1923. He was elected as Grand King of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia in 1928 and the Grand High Priest in 1929.
Mount Akron Chapter # 20 went into darkness in 1941, at which time M. Ex. Comp. MacKinnon affiliated with Alexandra Chapter # 11, in Charlottetown.
He became a Knights Templar in 1920 in Prince Edward Preceptory # 35.
He was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason.
He belonged to Philae Temple in Halifax.
Most Worshipful Brother MacKinnon ascended to the Grand Lodge above in October, 1959.
